Happy New Year!

Apologies I have been away from this blog for quite a while. 2015 was quite a big year for me, went on and joined a few different projects after I finished uni in July and just haven't had the time/inspiration to update this blog. Promise I'll try to post more regularly this year, it's on my official 2016 resolution list (amongst cutting down on Lord of the Fries)

New jacket from the Reclaim Vintage line at the ASOS sale here. Had a tough long exhausting day yesterday so I guess this is sort of a reward. Unfortunately I think I got the last one in stock and am having problems finding a similar one (unless you count this wool one from Moschino here), but keep looking 'cause they may get more stocks or returns later. Also let me know if you come across a more affordable and vegan-friendly 'dupe'.

suit up

Topman is offering a 20% off suits this week, expires this Friday and no code required. So here are my best-finds out of the vast offering, vegan-friendly as always.

I feel like now is a great time to click home some new suits regardless of which hemisphere you live on (although the tartan trend is probably more autumn-fitting) and these three pieces can be really quite versatile in my opinion. Button up with slacks for a smart-casual get-up or rock the over-the-shoulders look (get one size up the blazer) mixed with urban/sporty bottoms, which is of course my favourite way to wear a blazer.

I admit I'm getting all excited for autumn weather already now.

mid-veganuary shout-out

Are you enjoying this cruelty-free january?

To all of you who are trying out veganism this January, how you doing so far? It's past half of the month I hope you don't find it too difficult?

I hope all of you are aware of the amazing resources on Veganuary's website here. For my fellow Sydney and Melbourne folks, have you visited the Cruelty Free Shop yet (they also ship nationwide)? Newtown and Fitzroy are great places to visit but sometimes you can find vegan-friendly kitchens in more 'mainstream' areas (hurray to Lord of the Fries). And a lot of the times you can also ask the chef to remove animal products in your pasta, ask nicely though.

If you would like to meet more plant-powered people or just want to have a good time, come to Sydney Vegan Festival on 22 Mar in Marrickville. For more info and tickets click here

One more week...

Some of my favos from the collection (I did not just grabbed every single thing off the website I swear ;)
This Alexander Wang for H&M collection has certainly generated a lot of hype, as all past H&M collaborations did, but it so deserves it. Apart from the down jackets (even though H&M claims that their animal products are collected in humane ways) and leather garments, I'm falling very desperately in love with all the other pieces. Have been loving this sports luxe trend for quite a long time now and neoprene, aka scuba, is most certainly taking the throne of 'Fabric of the year' in my heart. Plus all in black and grey? Yes gimme 'em all please.

Will definitely be heading to Sydney H&M next Thursday morning for these beauts. Hooray to the long-waited Sydney store!

Got the Autumn ECO box from Lust have it a couple of weeks ago. Forgot to put in the hand cream in the photo but oh well it's not as exciting as the rest of the box.

So far I've tried the face mask and the brow brush. Loving the mask and the applicator brush it came with but not so impressed with the brow brush as it is too fat and not as define as I would like it to be.

New In

New Jacket by Notion 1.3 from Nelly Here. 

Got my package from Nelly last night with this beautiful jacket in. I own quite a few faux leather jackets but none of them has this asymmetric collar, which I actually really like, so when I saw this one on half price I just couldn't control myself.

The material is quite special, feels to me like a cross between normal leather jacket and a wetsuit, which is quite special and I love the way it looks and feels. The only problem I have with this so far is that it comes quite big for me. I got a size S, which is the smallest one they make and it's still got an oversized look on me, which is not exactly what you'd expect from a biker jacket. Although to be fair I am exceptionally small (170 cm/5 ft 7, standard/slim build) so if you're of average size or bigger there shouldn't be a fitting problem for you. 

As for me I'm actually quite happy to have a slightly oversized leather jacket and it is perfect to rock that over-the-shoulder look.

I've been in love with slip-ons for quite a long time now because they just go with everything from crop jeans to shorts and in Australia you can practically wear them all year round. And as the northern hemisphere is getting closer and closer to its summer many affordable brands join this market with cool designs and even better looking price tags. Above are some of my favourites (that are still available up to this point).

Although I probably should add to that the DOCKLAND line from Asos gave me quite a hard time to break into. In comparison to that their DIALOG ones (Here) are much more gentle on the feet. I also love the ones from Nelly.com but they are always sold out in a second and right now they've only got the leopard print ones left so grab them when you can.

Really wanted to get Memorial by Russian Circles but couldn't find it anywhere instore so I guess I'll have to order it online. 

So far I'm liking the Dirty solid perfume. It's got a very prominent tarragon note (similar to licorice) which I adore (and I think it does smell like a sexy man)

Had a taco and some nachos at Mad Mex with mates, we were just too starving to pick a nicer place, but guess what, one simply cannot say no to Mexican.

Then we headed to Starbucks and I got a Gingerbread Soy Latte. It was DISGUSTING. No, really, like it was HORRID. Haven't got any starbucks drink for quite a few years and I almost forgot how horribly sweet the drinks could be. Not my cup of coffee sorry.

Anyhow, it was nice meeting mates that I haven't seen for the longest time and it's always nice getting a few dollars off, but really for someone suffers from horrible social anxiety (was using deep sleep stress less roller ball stick from thisworks and it kinda helped a little) it was not the most pleasant experience as you can probably imagine. Not that I didn't have fun at all but I'm glad I'm done with it.

Coles Vegie Fix -Mexican Sweet Potato

I actually really like this stuff, normally I wouldn't pay 6 dollars for a bowl of microwavable pre-prepared meal but once half reduced they suddenly become oh so irresistible to me. So far I've tried the Moroccan Vegetable Tagine and this one, the last one in the range wasn't vegan (plus I hate eggplant). 

I have to be honest, I hate the Tagine one. Why you ask? Because there's zucchini in it. Now there's one thing you've probably already guessed about me and that is I hate all slimy, squashy, glairy however-you-wanna-call-it kind of food, I can't even stand the seed part of cucumbers. So anyway, the tagine one was unbearable to me but if you don't hate zucchini as much as I do you may find it delicious. 

So the Mexican one is my only option left and thank god no squash in this one (or at least I can't taste any). Normally I don't like sweet potato (Yes, I AM really picky in terms of food) but this one actually tastes good! Maybe because the magical spicy sauce camouflages all the distinctive vegie tastes, which I'm sure is not exactly a benchmark for a good dish, but again if I want a decent meal I would be sitting in a nice restaurant instead (and that will cost way more than 3 dollars). Besides, being the huge sucker for Mexican cuisine that I am (even though I can't handle spicy food at all) I do really like this stuff. Perfect for days when I'm too lazy to cook a probably healthier meal (shame that they only have this on sale like literally once in a blue moon). 

And it's quick to make, well I guess that's the whole point of microwave food. 3 mins and a half and tah dah dinner time!
